World Book Day

Today, the children and staff all dressed up to celebrate our love of reading for World Book Day. The children made an amazing effort and were excited to tell us what book character they were dressed as. Year 2, 3 and 4 spent all morning looking at Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. In Year 3, we read a few chapters from the book and focussed on the part where the children enter the ‘Chocolate Room’. We explored what each contestant was like, and the children thought of some excellent adjectives to describe each contestant’s personality. After break, they wrote a diary entry, as if they were one of the contestants entering the chocolate room. The children were so enthusiastic about the activity, and it was lovely to see the excellent writing they produced independently.

Art – Pharaoh headdresses

This half term, our topic has been Ancient Egypt. In art, the children have designed and drawn their own pharaoh headdresses using oil pastels. They looked at pictures of headdresses from famous pharaohs, including Tutankhamun, Cleopatra and Queen Nefertiti, and studied the shapes, colours and patterns used in the headdresses. They then created four different headdress designs, before choosing one to create a larger final piece of. The children all tried so hard, and we think the final pieces look amazing!

Bob Marley – Three Little Birds

Our music this term is based on Bob Marley’s “Three little Birds”.

We love the song, it’s very calming and we think the lyrics are great!

Don’t worry, about a thing. Because every little thing is gonna be alright.

We are keeping the beat using instruments. Next week we will be using more than one note.
